RoadWise
Every year, traffic-related fatalities and injuries break countless families and communities across India. At RoadWise, we believe safety is not just a rule, it’s a shared responsibility. Led by Sakshi, the RoadWise Project is a behavior-driven initiative designed to tackle India’s road safety crisis head-on. By blending cutting-edge behavioral science with grassroots action, we empower individuals and communities to rethink their role in creating safer roads for all.
Our Mission
To reduce traffic accidents, save lives, and cultivate a culture of shared responsibility on India’s roads through education, engagement, and empowerment.
How We Work
Dual Approach to Behavioral Change and the RANAS model
System 1
Instinctive Action
Redesign road environments to nudge safer habits—clearer signage, intuitive lane markings, and prompts that make safe choices automatic.
System 2
Conscious Choice
Engage communities in workshops, training, and dialogues to foster deliberate, risk-aware decisions like planning safer routes or resisting speeding.
Risks
Highlight the devastating personal and societal costs of unsafe practices.
Attitudes
Shift mindsets by linking safety to dignity, productivity, and family well-being.
Norms
Make safety a collective priority through peer influence, media campaigns, and community role models.
Abilities
Equip drivers, first responders, and rural communities with skills from rule compliance to emergency response.
Self-Regulation
Introduce tools like feedback loops and reminders to sustain long-term change.
